For our first Adult Entertainment Beginner Tip, let’s start at the first thing everyone needs to know when engaging in safe play with their partner: Lines and Veils

Lines and Veils refer to our personal boundaries that our partners need to be aware of. Specifically, Lines refer to things that you WILL NOT do. Some of the most common of these that people may have are things like Pain, Humiliation, and Anal, but these aren’t universal.

Veils on the other hand, are things that you’re not completely against, but that your partner should approach carefully and take slowly. Veils are especially useful when you have something you’re curious to try, but aren’t sure if you’re going to enjoy.

Lines and Veils are an important part of Safe Play, but to make use of them you need to do two important things:

1. You need to learn what your Lines and Veils are. It takes a bit of introspection and exploration, but when you know what your Lines and Veils are you can avoid uncomfortable situations with your partner, as well as improving the quality and enjoyment of your Play sessions.

2. You MUST have an open, honest conversation with your partner. Your Lines and Veils aren’t the only ones to take into account during your play, and your partner can’t avoid your lines and explore your veils if they don’t know what they are.

I wanted to start this series, Introduction to Safe Play, with Lines and Veils because they stress the importance of communicating with your partner. It doesn’t matter if you’re having a quick and easy one-night stand, or are enjoying time with your partner of 20 years, communicating with your partner is the most important part of Safe Play, and Lines and Veils are a powerful communication tool for that purpose.

Have a pleasureable weekend, and come back next week for more Safe Play tips!
